A Special CBI Court in Delhi today allowed Robert Vadra’s plea to travel abroad for medical purpose..The order was passed by CBI Judge Arvind Kumar..As per the Court’s order, Vadra can travel for six weeks to the Netherlands and the United States of America..The Court has directed Vadra to submit his travel schedule and details of accommodation as well as an FDR or bank guarantee of Rs 25 lakh before his departure..Vadra has also been asked to inform Court about his arrival in India within 24 hours. He also would join the investigation within 72 hours of being called for the same..Additionally, the Court has directed Vadra to not tamper with evidence or influence any victim..Vadra is facing a probe in relation to allegations of money laundering while purchasing a property in London worth 1.9 million pound. While granting anticipatory bail to Vadra in the case, the CBI Court had directed him to not leave the country without the Court’s permission..Thus, Vadra had moved an application for traveling to London, US, and the Netherlands for medical treatment. The Court was informed that Vadra had a small tumor in the large intestine, for which he sought to take a second opinion..Vadra’s plea was strongly opposed by the Enforcement Directorate. The Agency had argued that the investigation was at a crucial stage and allowing Vadra to go abroad could result in him fleeing from the country. The Agency had raised a strong objection against Vadra visiting London. It was submitted that medical condition was merely a pretext to visit the city where the laundered money was parked i.e. London..The request to travel to London was thus withdrawn by Vadra..ED’s plea against the anticipatory bail granted to Vadra is currently pending before the Delhi High Court.
