Calcutta HC allows plea to settle Culpable Homicide case after Compromise [Read Order]

In an unexpected turn of events, the Calcutta High Court recently allowed an application filed to settle a case involving a criminal charge of culpable homicide after the accused and the complainant arrived at a compromise.

The accused in the case was a medical practitioner who had treated the deceased. The complainant accused the medical practitioner of being responsible for the death. He, therefore, lodged a complaint levelling charges of culpable homicide (Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code), cheating and impersonation (Sections 419 and 420), among other offences, against the medical practitioner.
