Moily will now take on the Corporate Affairs portfolio, replacing Murli Deora..Khurshid while taking charge of the Law Ministry today said that his top priority is to sort out the standoff between the Government and Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium over his resignation..SG Subramanium had resigned over the weekend in protest against the Government’s decision to use a private counsel in a case involving Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal..Speaking to NDTV Khurshid said, “We need to do some course correction. It is not a healthy sign for the level of disagreements to continue the way we have seen them, particularly the way they were projected in the media. Frankly, it is not the government vs. judiciary…frankly, it has to be what area the Parliament’s operation is and the area of judiciary’s operation. Govt is only a part of the Parliament as a whole. I think we need a dialogue…a dialogue of democracy between the different organs of the government”..The confrontation going on with the judiciary on regular basis has created lot of discomfort and humiliation for the Government which has led to Khurshid being brought to the Law Ministry..The new Law Minister now faces a number of challenges confronting the judiciary and he has to take forward the major legal reforms initiated by Moily during his tenure..However, upset over being made Corporate Affairs Minister, Moily blamed the “vested interest” for his shifting..Moily said he had been a victim of “campaign by vested interests” for his reform agenda and the “fault of administrative ministries” was wrongly sought to be attributed to him, according to media reports..Showing signs of frustration hours after the reshuffle, he said he had undertaken a series of reforms in the Law Ministry and schemes worth Rs. 21,000 crore were under implementation..The first reaction of Moily to the Cabinet reshuffle was very strong and bitter but today while taking charge as the new Corporate Affairs Minister; he seems to have taken a U-turn. He told media that he was happy with his new ministry..Moily took charge of his new portfolio today and said the passage of a new bill to replace the 55-year-old Companies Act and issues of corporate governance were his top priorities, according to HT..Moily also brushed aside suggestions that he was unhappy with the way he was treated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi and shifted out of the Ministry of Law and Justice – a portfolio he was rather confident of retaining.
