Breaking: Trilegal Co-Founder Anand Prasad leaves for Counsel practice, politics

Trilegal co-founding Partner Anand Prasad has resigned from the firm. Prasad plans to set up an independent counsel practice, and pursue a career in politics, as first reported by Legally India..Anand will step down from the Management Committee by March 31, 2016 and will leave the firm by March 2017, according to the firm’s internal announcement..Speaking to Bar & Bench on Anand’s decision to leave the firm and its impact, Co-founder Rahul Matthan said,.“Anand is one of the founders and has contributed significantly to the firm, so we will miss his presence. We’ve known for quite some time that his interests of late lie with socially relevant work..Since we’ve had time to plan for this, the client transition etc will take place over the course of the next year..The firm as a whole is placed quite well right now. Apart from the founders, we’ve got a number of partners who have got their own practice and have promoted their own partners, so things are expected to be fine.”.On being asked if another partner would be brought into the Management Committee, Rahul said,.“We’ll figure that out, right now it is not necessary. You will hear more about it in the course of the next few months. Trilegal as a firm has always been very institutional. We’ve never wanted it to be about the founders; if you look at the name, you’ll see that. In the future, we will set in place a professional management structure, which is independent of any individual personality.”
