The Kerala High Court today stayed the order of the National Green Tribunal banning registration of diesel vehicles above 2000 cc engine capacity..The order was passed by Justice PB Suresh Kumar in a petition filed by Nippon Toyota..However, it is understood that the ban on Diesel vehicles, which are more than 10 years old, has not been stayed..On May 23, a circuit Bench of the National Green Tribunal comprising Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar and Expert Member BS Sajwan had banned Diesel vehicles more 10 years old from plying in the cities of Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Calicut, Thrissur, Kollam and Kannur..It had also directed the state government not to allow registration of any diesel vehicle with a capacity of 2000cc and above in the interim, save for public transport and local authority vehicles..The hearing in this case before NGT is now on July 29..More details on High Court order awaited.
