The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has decided to conduct National Lok Adalat once in every two months..National Lok Adalats are held throughout the country from Taluk level courts to High Courts..The 2nd National Lok Adalat was held on April 8 this year. Around 6.6 lakh cases were disposed of at the 2nd National Lok Adalat..Out of the 6.6 lakh cases, around 3.68 lakh cases were those pending in courts while around 2.92 lakh cases were those which were arrested before it could be litigated in courts..NALSA, which is currently headed by Justice Dipak Misra, has also issued guidelines to all State Legal Services Authorities to make efforts to see that parties to the dispute arrive at amicable settlement.
