Other petitions filed by family members of the deceased have been tagged along with this matter. The CBI is investigating Dabholkar’s murder while an SIT was formed to look into Pansare’s murder. Now that an accused has been arrested in connection with Dabholkar’s murder, Pansare’s family wants the investigation to be transferred to the CBI just like Dabholkar..Previously, the High Court had rejected the bail plea of Sameer Gaikwad, the main accused in the Pansare case..Today in court: A status report was submitted by ASG Anil Singh who is appearing for the CBI in the matter. The report was prepared by an officer of the Special Crime Branch, CBI..Dharmadhikari J said that in order to assist the Scotland Yard in investigating the case, the officer must be sent to London and the government must fecilitate his travel. Singh said the final report from Scotland Yard may take 12 weeks..A Nevgi, appearing for the families of Dabholkar and Pansare pointed out that if there are hurdles in procuring a report from the Scotland Yard, a forensic lab in Chandigarh which is under the army can be considered. He also stated that sources in the SIT have asked the families to request the investigation of Govind Pansare’s murder to CBI. He has been directed to place all the facts and suggestions in an affidavit..The State government maintained that they have no intention of transferring the Pansare investigation to the CBI. Assistant PP M Deshmukh said a suspect has been identified and the SIT team is looking to arrest him as soon as possible. They were sentenced to life by a special court in January 2008 for gang-raping a five month pregnant Bilkis Bano and murdering seven of her family members in the post-Godhra riots of 2002..The victim has filed an intervention application seeking her case to be given a patient hearing, Vijay Hiremath is her counsel.
