Thiruvengadam, President, SILF Bangalore Chapter chairing the event..The tournament saw a lot of closely fought matches with lawyers, young and old, turning their arm over and diving around the ground. With an increase in the number of participating teams, the noise levels were considerably high with awards being given for the best banners and the loudest cheers. The best banner award, the “Banner-ji Award” was won by Lakshmi Kumaran & Sridharan on Day 1 and by Trilegal on Day 2 for their innovative and colourful banners. The award for the loudest cheers on Day 2 was snapped up by CrestLaw Partners..Man of the Match medals were also presented for each of the games. Prashant Mirle of India Law Practice, Dhyan Chinnappa of CrestLaw Partners and Rishabh Bharadwaj of NDR-MD&T Partners were stand out performers for their teams bagging the MoM medals for both the matches that their teams played..The 22 games held at the grounds at Sir MVIT Grounds over the weekend saw 8 of the 24 teams proceed to the Quarter Finals. The teams fighting for the coveted title now are India Law Practice, K&S Partners, Amarchand Mangaldas, K Law, the Poovayya & Co – APV Advocates combine, CrestLaw Partners, Indus Law and the NDR-MD&T combine..The Road to the Quarter Finals.Group A.India Law Practice won both their league matches against Sundaraswamy & Ramdas and Lakshmi Kumaran & Sridharan with bonus points to top the group..K&S Partners beat Anup Shah S Law Firm by 5 wickets and DSK Legal with a bonus point..A team can achieve a bonus point if it chases the target in less than 80% of the allotted overs or restricts the other team to less than 80% of the runs scored..Group B.Prior to commencement of the first match, Amarchand Mangaldas and K Law were awarded a win each on account of walkovers. Both teams then went on to win their second league game with bonus points. K Law, last year’s finalists knocked out defending champs ALMT Legal, while AMSS beat AZB & Partners by 34 runs. With both teams on equal points, AMSS pipped K Law to the top spot on the basis of a higher net run rate..Group C.The Poovayya & Co – APV Advocates combine topped the group with 2 comfortable wins against Khaitan & Co and Tatva Legal and claimed the bonus points in matches.
