Secretary General in which the Supreme Court had allowed the live streaming of cases of Constitutional importance that take place in the court of the Chief Justice of India..Contending that Ram Mandir-Babri Majid case “has created large-scale interest across India”, the petitioner has contended that crores of people would be interested in witnessing the proceedings but might not be able to do so due to the norms in Supreme Court..Govindacharya has contended that the absence of live streaming of court proceedings is a denial of the right to access justice under Article 21 of the Constitution. The petition reads:.“This Hon’ble Court has already held that “right of access to justice flowing from Article 21 of the Constitution or be it the concept of justice at the doorstep, would be meaningful only if the public gets access to the proceedings as it would unfold before the courts and in particular, opportunity to witness live proceedings in respect of matters having an impact on the public at large or on a section of people.””.The petitioner has also contended that due to the absence of live streaming of proceedings of the Supreme Court, the public is also being denied its right to know as per Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution..Interestingly, the petitioner also states that the Constitution contains pictures of Lord Ram. Hence, live streaming of Ayodhya case will fulfil Constitutional Patriotism..“..considering the fact that the original copies of the Constitution itself detail pictures of Lord Ram. It is submitted that the live streaming of proceedings before this Hon’ble Court will also fulfil the mandate of constitutional patriotism.”.Since the hearing in Ayodhya case is slated to commence on August 6, the matter is likely to be mentioned on Monday, August 5 for urgent listing..The Ayodhya case has been pending in Supreme Court since 2010. Recently, attempts were made to settle the same by mediation but it had failed. The Supreme Court had, therefore, decided to start hearing the case on a day-to-day basis from August 6.
