Tribal Connect is a registered NGO working for tribal empowerment and education & raising awareness about tribal rights. We are immensely pleased to inform you that Tribal Connect is starting with webinar series with an aim to spread awareness on issues pertaining to tribal rights.

The webinar for this month will be on: "Forced Displacement, Land Acquisition and Tribal Rights in India: Legal Perspective"

About the Webinar

In India's development model, displacement caused by large projects has resulted in a transfer of resources from the weaker sections of society to more privileged ones. These projects create victims of development - mainly tribals who never share the gains of development. Land acquisition has destroyed tribal community’s livelihood and social setting and violated their basic human rights.

The major impact of the displacement and takeover of tribal homelands has been the denigration of their culture, customs and language by mainstream communities. In this webinar the speaker will evaluate whether the land acquisition law and its implementation has been able to strike a balance between the Tribal Rights and Economic Development - the two competing interests for securing Good Governance.
