NUALS Cochin holds sixth Annual Convocation Justice Kurian Joseph urges fresh graduates to uphold dignity of profession

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Cochin (NUALS) held its sixth Annual Convocation for the graduating batch of 2012 on February 2, 2013 at the NUALS Campus. Fifty four students of the graduating batch of 2012 were awarded the B.A. LL.B. (Hons) degree at the Convocation..C. Sreedharan Nair, Vice-Chancellor in-charge and Chairman, Bar Council of Kerala, delivered the welcome address and mentioned that the Search Committee for appointment of new Vice-Chancellor has been constituted on December 17, 2012. He further added that the Committee was expected to make recommendations for the post of Vice-Chancellor by the end of February or the beginning of March..Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, Justice Kurian Joseph, delivered the Convocation address while Kerala High Court Chief Justice and Chancellor of the University, Justice Manjula Chellur presided over the function..Devika S. Sruthy bagged the CK Sivasankara Panicker Memorial Endowment Gold Medal and the M K Nambiar Endowment Gold Medal for the best student in Public Law. Ajitha Pillai bagged the Satgamaya Foundation for Law and Justice Endowment Medal, PTA Gold Medal and the T R Raman Pillai Memorial Endowment Gold Medal..Delivering the Convocation address, Justice Joseph said, “Law Schools not only prepare individuals for legal service, they are building the grounds for acquiring constitutional and democratic values for meaningful social engagements.”.He further added, “Dignity of the legal profession is vitally integral to administration of justice.
