NLSIU shorts fiasco culminates in amicable sit-down

The recent controversy at NLSIU, where a professor allegedly made sexist remarks against a female student for wearing shorts to class seems to have been put to bed..A statement issued by Vice-Chancellor Prof Venkata Rao claims that the parties involved have managed to amicably resolve the issues between them. A meeting was arranged in Prof Rao’s office this afternoon, which was attended by concerned professor, students and members of the Student Bar Association..Earlier today, the Deccan Herald had reported that the professor had apologised to the female student. The same article quotes a third-year student as saying,.“The professor said he regretted what he had said. He said he never intended to make such statements.”.However, the release issued by the Prof. Rao states,.“…it is further clarified that the matter as reported in certain sections of the media on April 10 about the tendering of the apology by the concerned professor on April 9, is not correct.”.In the release, Prof Rao has also requested the media to abstain from reporting on the matter any further.
