Institute of Law, Nirma University emerged as winners of the GNLU International Moot Court Competition

The Institute of Law, Nirma University was adjudged winners of the 13th GNLU International Moot Court Competition 2022. The Moot Court Competition was organized by the Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar and was conducted virtually from 6 – 10 April, 2022.

The winning team consisted of Akshat Kothari, Nayanika Goyal and Jaysinh Kela. The team defeated University of Oxford in the finals.

Nayanika Goyal and Jaysinh Kela were also awarded Best and Second-Best Speaker of the competition respectively. Nayanika Goyal was adjudged as the Best Speaker in the Finals.

The competition saw the participation of top international and national teams who competed on the lines of the International Trade Law, on a problem which dealt with the nuances of agreements under the World Trade Organization. The event was organized in collaboration with Centre for WTO Studies, World trade institute, Lakshmi Kumaran & Sridharan and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP.

The Final Round was adjudged by a distinguished panel consisting of Prof. Peter Van den Bossche - Director of Studies and Professor at the World Trade Institute and University of Bern (Former Member and Chair of the Appellate Body of the World Trade Organization), Prof. Arthur Appleton - Adjunct Professor of International Law at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna (SAIS-Europe), Mr. V. Lakshmi Kumaran – Founding Partner of Lakshmi Kumaran and Shridharan; Prof. James Nedumpara – Professor and Head at Centre for Trade and Investment Law, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Ms. Anuradha RV – Founding Partner of Clarus Law Associates.
