The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) sprawling over a beautiful campus in the capital city of Dehradun was established in the year 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003 of the state legislatures of Uttarakhand.

UPES, School of Law was established in 2007 to produce competent legal professionals. Since then, it has been a pioneer in grooming modern-day legal professionals with a multi-disciplinary edge by providing specialized courses in Energy Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Corporate Law, Taxation Law, Techno-Legal Law, Media Law and others.

About Society for Constitutional Law & Human Rights

SCLHR is a forum dedicated to promote research, to increase student’s ability to interpret the law to the changing situations and to spread awareness of issues dealing with Comparative Constitutional Law & Human Rights. The mission of the society is to promote research dealing with Constitutional Law & Human Rights topics; to make the constitution and human rights, a subject matter to read, explore, discuss, debate and deliberate upon by the students beyond the classroom.

About the Event

It gives us immense pleasure to apprise you that the Society for Constitutional Law & Human Rights (SCLHR), established under the aegis of UPES School of Law, Dehradun.

The Society has planned a two-day event under the aegis of Vidhiutsav. In this furtherance, we are pleased to announce the ‘4th National UPES– School of Law Constitutional Law Quiz Competition’, to be organized on 9th – 10th April, 2022. The competition is divided into three rounds which will be held through offline mediums. The details of the said round are as follows:

A. Round 1 (Multiple Choice Questions)

• The quiz will contain Multiple Choice Questions.

• There will be a total of 60 questions with a time limit of 30 minutes.

• This round will be conducted in an offline mode.

• Each question will carry 2 marks. There will be 0.50 negative mark for every wrong answer.

• A total of 10 participants will qualify for Round 2 based on marks scored in Round 1.

B. Round 2

• A total of 10 participants will qualify for Round 2.

• Each participant will be given 20 questions with a time frame of 10 minutes.

• The round will be conducted in an offline mode in UPES, SoL, Building.

• Marking criteria:

a. 4 points for every correct answer

b. 1 point will be deducted for every wrong answer

• A total of 5 participants will qualify for the final round based on the marks scored in Round 2. The round will be a buzzer round.

• In case of a tie, there will be a tie-breaker question for the participants.

C. Final Round

The round will be conducted offline and the format will be disclosed on spot.

Who All Can Participate

Students pursuing graduate or postgraduate degree in any field of study can participate in the competition from any recognized College or University

General Guidelines

There will be a capping of 150 participants. Registration will be base d on first come first serve basis.

In case of any misconduct, the discretion of the organizing committee shall prevail.

Any participant found using any unfair means will be disqualified.

In case of any ambiguity in guidelines/conflict on any matter arising in between the

competition, the organizing committee shall have the discretion.

Prize

Winner : ₹7,000 + certificate of merit + Trophy

Runners Up: ₹5,000 + certificate of merit + Trophy

Second Runner Up: ₹ 3,000 + certificate of merit + Trophy

Note: Certificate of merit will be provided to all finalists and certificate of participation to all the participants.

Important Deadlines

Last Date of Registration: 31st March, 2022

Registration Amount: ₹150 (Individual Participation) and ₹250 (Team of two)

Event Date and Time

Round 1: 9th April, 2022 (10 A.M.) Result Declaration: 9th April, 2022 (08:00 P.M.)

Round 2: 10th April, 2022 (11 A.M. onwards)

Round 3: 10th April , 2022 (3 P.M. onwards) Valedictory Ceremony (04:30 P.M)
