National Law Institute University: 12th Convocation Ceremony [Press Release]

The National Law Institute University, Bhopal hosted its 12th convocation for of Ph.D., MCLIS  batches of 2019 and the 2020, LL.M. batch of 2020 & B.A.LL.B. batches of 2015 , 2016 , 2017 on 11 February.

The ceremony was held at the Justice JS Verma Memorial Convention Centre.

The ceremony began with the national anthem after the procession of dignitaries entered the hall.

The event saw the presence Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul (Judge, Supreme Court of India) and Justice Ravi Malimath (Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court), Justice Satyendra K Singh (Judge, Madhya Pradesh high court).

Justices SK Kaul and Ravi Malimath, along with the chancellor and vice chancellor of the university lit the lamp. With this, the convocation was formally announced.

This was followed by the welcome address by the Vice Chancellor who shed light on NLIU's accomplishments in the past few  years.

The chancellor then administered oath to the graduates and post-graduates.

Justice Kaul delivered the convocation address. Addressing all the guest and students present his speech started by quoting Cardozo which explained the importance of learning.

Calling NLIU, Bhopal one of the premier law schools of the country with distinguished history he then threw the light of the historic records of both Hindu and Islamic manuscripts which dealt with the legal jurisprudence in ancient India.

Quoting many scholars and jurists he said that lawyers are “social engineers” and have distinguished presence in the drafting of the finest constitution in the world. He also emphasised on the use of technology available to this generation of lawyers and students, mentioning e- courts and legal research.

Chief Justice Ravi Malimath then conferred the degrees to the students of Ph.D., MCLIS, LL.M. & B.A.LL.B.

A total of 8 gold medals were conferred to the students. Anurag Mor (batch of LLM 2021) received a gold medal for overall first position instituted by Justice Sacheendra Dwivedi memorial and Nani Palkhiwala memorial.

Kanishka Gautam (batch of LLM 2021) received a gold medal for first position in criminal law group instituted by Dr Ajay Dubey and Dr Avinash Dubey.

Shruti Tomer (batch of LLM 2022) received a gold medal for overall first position instituted by Justice Sacheendra Dwivedi Memorial and Nani Palkhiwala memorial.

Rosabel Marnger received a gold medal for first position in criminal law group instituted by Dr Ajay Dubey and Dr Avinash Dubey.

Prachi Sharma (MCLIS 2021) received a gold medal for overall first position instituted by the Rizwan Shaad Memorial.

Arshil Khan (MCLIS 2022) received a gold medal for overall first position instituted by the Rizwan Shaad Memorial.

Nidhisha Garg (BALLB 2021) received a silver medal for being the first year, second year, third year, fourth year topper as instituted by the PT Ram Lalji Sharma memorial. She also received a gold medal for overall first position constituted by PT Ram Lalji Sharma Memorial, Late Pratibha Dubey Memorial, Justice Guru Prasanna Singh Memorial, University Gold Medal in memory of Justice Jagdish Sharan Verma and Professor VS Rekhi.

Palak Kaushal (BALLB 2021) received a silver medal for overall second position instituted by Dr Ajay Dubey and Dr Animesh Dubey.

Shivam Tiwari (BALLB 2021) received a bronze medal for overall third position by Dr Ajay Dubey and Dr Animesh Dubey.

Shreya Shankar (BALLB 2022) received a silver medal for being the first year, second year, third year, fourth year topper instituted  by the PT Ram Lalji Sharma memorial. She also received a gold medal for overall first position constituted by PT Ram Lalji Sharma Memorial, Late Pratibha Dubey Memorial, Justice Guru Prasanna Singh Memorial, University Gold Medal in memory of Justice Jagdish Sharan Verma and Professor VS Rekhi.

Dhwani Agrawal (BALLB 2022) received a silver medal for overall second position instituted by Dr Ajay Dubey and Dr Animesh Dubey.

Anoushka Ishwar Pappu (BALLB 2022) received a bronze medal for overall third position by Dr Ajay Dubey and Dr Animesh Dubey.

The convocation formally ended with an announcement by Justice Kaul.
