Since late last year, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Srishti Verma, a second-year student at the Institute of Law, Nirma University,

(Edited excerpts)

Why did you choose to study law?

While I was in class 12th, I was clueless about my future plans. My parents were lawyers but I never tried to think about law as a career. After scoring well in class 12th, I took up admission in Delhi University in BCom (H), but could not find excitement in it.

I decided to give a try to CLAT and try to find my interest in law. While I was preparing for CLAT, I met some amazing teachers who made me fall in love with law and its never-ending possibilities and I was convinced to enter this field.

In CLAT 2018, I secured Rank 1533, way below my expectations. I was heartbroken, however, after a lot of research, my parents convinced me to take up admission in Nirma University. Today, I fall in love with law every day. From a clueless Delhi University dropout, to a confident young law student, I thrive for a better version of myself every day.

Why did you choose to become a Bar & Bench Campus Ambassador?

While preparing for CLAT, I was told to follow legal updates and news. I was recommended Bar&Bench by my CLAT Mentor for the same, and since then, I have been regularly reading this blog.

It’s quick, easy to comprehend and gives detailed analysis of latest legal updates. When I saw the call inviting the Campus Ambassadors for Bar&Bench, I wanted to be a part of this family since I owe the foundations of my legal knowledge to it.

Today, I have successfully encouraged a lot of my friends to actually follow this blog and keep themselves way ahead of mediocrity.

What are your plans after graduation?

I have developed a keen interest in FinTech Law, Finance Law, Investment, Equity and General Corporate Law. I plan to enter this field. I am deliberating with my mind over doing an MBA to help accelerate my career in Corporate Law and Finance.

I plan to set up a firm with my father after some years of experience. My primary goal is to either crack CAT in my final year or secure a job in a Tier-1 law firm.
