Luthra and Luthra organises 3rd GNLU International Moot Court Competition

Luthra and Luthra Law Offices has partnered with the Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) as an “Official Law firm Partner” for the 3rd GNLU International Moot Court Competition (GIMC) which is scheduled to be held from February 9 to 13, 2011..Luthra and Luthra Managing Partner Rajiv K. Luthra said, “GNLU though among the younger National Law Schools is fast emerging as one of the premier law schools in the country and this collaboration will give us a platform to directly interact with law students from India and abroad and simultaneously promote our twin objectives of creating awareness about laws governing the WTO trading system and enthusing students to the practice of International Trade law”..The Firm will award internships at its offices to the members of the Winning / Runner’s up team and the team winning the Best Memorial award. The problem of GIMC features an interesting mix of Space Law, Privacy Laws and International Trade Law. It explores the legal dimensions of satellite surveillance and the repercussions of trade sanctions. The judges include Shishir Priyadarshi, Director WTO; Christian Haberli, Senior Research Fellow WTI/ NCCR Trade Regulation; Krista N. Schefer, Professor at University of Basel, Switzerland (author of the moot problem), and Moushami Joshi, Partner International Trade/ WTO law at Luthra and Luthra Law Offices..Luthra and Luthra International Trade/WTO Partner Moushami Joshi stated, “Moot Courts are excellent platforms for law students to showcase their legal skills, especially on complex subjects like International Trade and it also provides an opportunity for a premier firm like Luthra and Luthra to tap into bright young legal talent through its offer of internships to the winning and best memorial teams”..The moot has attracted participants from Asia, Europe and USA and judges from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, Senior Research Fellows from World Trade Institute at Bern, Switzerland and members of the WTO Appellate Body among others.
