Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.
This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.
In this edition, we speak with Jagriti Vij, a fifth-year student of law at the Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies
Why did you choose to study law?
I have always had an unbound interest in public policy and a genuine curiosity about the workings of the government. Apart from that, just like any other woke citizen, I too wanted to bring about the needed changes in the flawed system of the country.
Law seemed to be the perfect profession for that, and so I enrolled myself into a law school. Rightly saying so, it was a life-changing decision.
What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?
For as long as I can remember, Bar & Bench has been my go-to portal to keep myself updated with any and all kinds of legal news. When I came across their campus ambassador programme, with no second thought, I applied for it.
Since I have had relevant experiences in the past, I knew I could do justice to the role. Moreover, I firmly believe the exposure to the legal fraternity that I’ll get here would be like no other, and I’m willing to make the most of it.
What are your plans after completing law?
During my time in law school, I’ve grown overly fond of International law and diplomacy. I’m looking forward to gaining expertise in the subject, and so masters in it appears to be the right choice for now.
If BCI requires me to spend an extra year on that, so be it. Though prior to that I would definitely want to acquaint myself with some practical skill-set, preferably in the policy-making domain.
