Know Your Campus Ambassador: Avantika Shukla, Bharati Vidyapeeth

Over the last two years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Avantika Shukla, a fourth-year student at the Bharati Vidyapeeth University.

Why did you choose to study law?

Initially, my choice to study law emanated from extreme idealism that came after watching movies, TV series, and other such things. Though ironic enough my choice of law and it’s appreciation came after I joined my institution, which not only helped me to understand how powerful a social development tool law can be, and how even a simple understanding of rights and the legal framework can help change if not many but at least a single life a day.

What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?

There are many reasons but one. Foremost, I still can recall how I was a bundle of nerves in my first year of law school, being a first-generation lawyer I didn’t know much about the intricacies of the law, the diaspora of it, and developments that took place.

All of which got culminated once I learned about Bar and Bench, and like any other law student, it became an integral part of my law school journey. Therefore the opportunity of being a Bar and Bench ambassador was my way of giving a bit back ,also it would give me the priceless opportunity to interview people and get an insight into their legal journeys also the niche areas of law that are ever developing.

What are your plans after completing law?

Litigation is something that has invoked my interests since my first year, therefore after completing law I plan to enter into the field of litigation.
