Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act 2014 on 20th March 2014, is one of the premier National Law Universities in India. The Act envisaged establishing National Law University in Maharashtra to impart advanced legal education and promote society oriented research in legal studies for the advancement of the social life of the people in the country.

The Centre for Advanced Legal Studies, Training and Research was established with a vision to bring all academic, research and training activities relating to existing, contemporary and futuristic law under the single, unique and independent umbrella of the department in the Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai.

The centre runs with three-fold Objectives:

1. Advanced Legal Studies

Centre aims to facilitate the Advanced Legal Studies for Students, Professionals, research scholars and all the stakeholders in society through various sources such as academic programs including advanced short term and long term certificate courses, Diploma and Degrees and specializations in various contemporary and advanced subjects in law.

2. Legal Training

The additional objective of the Centre is to provide theoretical and practical training to students, professionals, research scholars, corporates, investigating agencies and other executives with the aid, assistance and consultation with various experts in the field and luminaries working in the profession or any institution and academic and research institutions, various government agencies.

3. Legal Research

Encouraging and promoting legal research of high quality and standards is one of the prime objectives of the Centre. The centre arranges various seminars, webinars, symposiums, and conferences and asks for paper presentations and publications on various contemporary, advanced and futuristic topics in the field of law. This centre provides consultancy, support and guidance to those who are really in need and Centre also aim to help the society in seeking social justice by spreading legal awareness through various socio-legal programs in different structures of society ranging from educational institutions, professional organizations, government departments and for the commoners in the society. All the activities relating to legal research, training, studies and consultancy are being implemented independently and with the cooperation and coordination of various Centres running under the MNLU.

Position

The Centre is looking to engage full-time interns on a rolling basis to assist with the activities of the Centre at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai.

Duration

The applicants are required to mention the duration of their availability at the time of application itself. The minimum duration is four weeks. Preference shall be given to applicants who are available for longer durations.

Responsibility

The interns shall primarily be required to conduct research in the areas of legal and social research including but not limited to Justice Administration, Civil and Criminal Justice, Environmental law, Socio-legal research etc. under the aegis of Director/Research Associates/Assistants of the Centre. The interns shall also be expected to be involved with other activities of the centre including the organization of seminars, conferences, workshops and symposiums.

Application Process

The applicants are required to submit their CVs and a Statement of Purpose (maximum 400 words) to the Director, Center for Advanced Legal Studies, Training And Research mentioning the period of internship for which they are available. All communication related to the internship shall be via email calstarinternship@mnlumumbai.edu.in.

Other Details

· The mode of Internship shall be online/offline.

· The Centre for Advanced Legal Studies, Training and Research reserves the right to conduct interviews.

· No TA/stipend shall be paid for the interview.

· The Centre for Advanced Legal Studies, Training and Research reserves the right to not fill the notified positions.

· Students who are pursuing/completed Three years of (5 Years Degree) or Two Years of (3 Years Degree) or have completed LLB Degree or pursuing LLM are eligible for applying.

· Interns possessing exceptional research skills may be given an opportunity to be a part of research projects, publications at reputed journals/books etc., drafting policy, etc. taken up under the centre’s initiative.

· Interns have to specify the month/duration of the internship in their application while applying.
