Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) conducted the ‘Jurists Speak’ program on 7th June 2024 as part of day zero of the Induction week for freshers of the incoming batch of 2024.

The event opened with the address of Prof. VC Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor extolling the new batch to temper their outlook respecting diversity and respect of Genders apart from their academic Excellence. He remarked that,

"This profession empowers not only the learners but empowers those who are  disempowered through their services."

“If engineers build urban systems, doctors build immune systems; lawyers need to build ‘justice systems", he further added.

The Chief Guest of the programme Distinguished Jurist Professor of HNLU & Learned Attorney General for India, R Venkataramani in his address remarked,

The cultural values of India and its convergence is reflected in every institution of higher learning.”

He further added, “importance of using the freedom provided by legal education to benefit the community.

Highlighting the essential traits of a lawyer, he stated that the foremost task is to uphold truthfulness.”

He underscored the significant role of technology in law, describing it as a pathway to freedom and a facilitator of innovation. 

Prof. Dr. Ranbir Singh, as Guest of Honour and Distinguished Jurist Professor at HNLU  remarked, “Few decades back, like him, many joined law courses out of chance but with the advent of National Law Universities it is by choice rather than chance.”

Prof. (Dr) R Venkata Rao, Guest of Honour & Distinguished Jurist Professor at HNLU, extolled that,

Constitution should be at the back of every law student’s  mind and at the center of one's heart, serving as a constant companion and making the rule of law a way of life.” 

Dr. Vipan Kumar, Registrar (I/c) delivered the Welcome Address & Dr. Avinash Samal, Dean, Student Welfare delivered the Vote of Thanks.

The Weeklong Induction 2024 will have formal and informal interaction with students with joint  musical evening,  Health briefing, sports match, Alumni interaction and Gender sensitization colloquium.
