Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) has been observing Anti-Ragging Week beginning August 12 and is slated to conclude on August 18, 2024

The initiative, as per the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines, aims to foster a safe and inclusive environment for students and includes a series of events designed to raise awareness about the Anti-Ragging Act and promote student engagement in creative and educational activities.

The timeline of events planned per day through the week are as follows -

Day 1: Orientation Session  

The National Anti-Ragging Day was observed on August 12, 2024, aligning with the nationwide initiative across Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). This marked the beginning of Anti-Ragging Week at the university, aimed at promoting awareness and fostering a safe and respectful environment for all students. This week-long initiative will likely include various activities and programs designed to educate students about the consequences of ragging and the importance of maintaining a ragging-free campus.

The week commenced with an orientation session led by Dr. Avinash Samal, the Convener of the Anti-Ragging Committee. The session featured a detailed presentation by Dr. Parvesh Rajput on the Anti-Ragging Act, emphasizing the legal and ethical responsibilities of students.

Dr. Deepak Srivastava, Dean of Undergraduate Studies, also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the university's zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Dr. Uttam Kumar Panda underscored the socio-psychological aspects of ragging on the victims. The session was anchored by Dr. Hina Iliyas, who effectively facilitated the proceedings, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rana Navneet Roy. The event was well-attended by faculty members, staff, and students, reflecting the university's commitment to maintaining a safe campus environment.

Day 2: Slogan Writing Competition  

Yesterday, a slogan writing competition, coordinated by Dr. Uttam Kumar Panda, encouraged students to creatively express their views on the importance of an anti-ragging culture.

Day 3: Poster Making Competition  

Today HNLU will witness a poster-making competition under the guidance of Jeevan Sagar, where students will visually articulate the significance of eradicating ragging from educational institutions.

Day 4: Skit Presentation  

On August 15, 2024, skits will be performed, directed by Dr. Avinash Samal. The skits will dramatize scenarios related to ragging and its consequences, aiming to engage students through a powerful narrative.

Day 5: Essay Writing Competition  

August 16, 2024, will feature an essay writing competition overseen by Dr. Atul Jaybhaye. Participants will be tasked with articulating their thoughts on the impact of ragging and the importance of anti-ragging measures.

Day 6: Documentary Screening 

On August 17, 2024, a documentary screening will be organized by Dr. Kaumudhi Challa. The documentary will provide a comprehensive overview of ragging and its psychological and legal implications.

Day 7: Logo Making Competition 

The week will conclude on August 18, 2024, with a logo-making competition led by Dr. Kiran Kori. Students will design logos symbolizing the fight against ragging, encapsulating the message of anti-ragging in a single image.
