CLAT 2020 was student-friendly and glitch-free, adequate measures taken to curb spread of COVID-19: NLU Consortium

In a press release issued today, the Consortium of National Law Universities has stated that the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2020) conducted today was student-friendly and free from technical glitches.."Exam itself was made more student friendly by giving students chance to review their answers and there was no negative marks for not attempting any question. Unlike previous years, the Consortium also reduced the number of questions for CLAT (UG) from 200 to 150."Press release issued by NLU Consortium.CLAT was conducted today for admissions to 22 National Law Universities. A total of 75,183 students registered for the exam, out of which 68,833 candidates downloaded admit cards. Of those who had downloaded the admit cards, 86.20% appeared for the test, the release states..CLAT 2020 to be held from 2-4 pm on September 28: CLAT Consortium issues instructions [Read Notice].Emphasizing on the "student-friendliness" of the test, the Consortium has said,"Even for a single candidate, we had provided a test centre at Kavaratti (Lakshadweep) though this candidate did not appear. We had as many as 6 Centres where there were 10 or less than ten candidates. We had 10 Centres where we had 11 to 20 candidates.".The highest number of centres were in Uttar Pradesh (45), followed by Delhi, which had 25 centres. Maharashtra had 23 centres, and Karnataka had 18 centres..To ensure the integrity of the exam, students were only allowed to use the mouse and not the keyboard, the release highlighted..The release also mentioned the various steps that were undertaken to ensure that social distancing was practised at all times. These include:Parents were asked to drop off students at a distance from the Examination centers. To avoid crowding at entry of main gate, students were allotted four slots starting from 1:00pm.Display of seating arrangement was also provided outside Test centers.Thermal screening was conducted for students and sanitizers were also provided at the entrance.Every center had isolation rooms and all students with a slight temperature/high fever were taken to the respective isolation rooms.The system of barcoding was also enabled. As soon as a student scanned his/her bar code, their respective Lab number and the system on which he/she had to take the test was made known.Students were not asked to mark attendance as a safety measure. .It was further informed that the question paper and the answer key would be uploaded today itself.
