Online CCAL Guest Lecture on "Why Secularism" by Prof Neera Chandhoke

Centre for Comparative Constitutional Law and Administrative Law, National Law University Jodhpur (CCAL) is hosting Dr. Neera Chandhoke. We are conducting a online guest lecture on the theme "Why Secularism" on February 16, 2022 (Wednesday) from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

About the Centre for Comparative Constitutional Law and Administrative Law Journal

The Centre for Comparative Constitutional Law and Administrative Law is established under the patronage of the Vice Chancellor of National Law University Jodhpur, Professor Poonam Pradhan Saxena. The Centre publishes its flagship Journal and Blog under the guidance of our Director, Professor I.P. Massey and members of the Advisory Board such as Former CJI M.N. Venkatachaliah, Senior Advocate Rajeev Dhawan and Professor Timothy Endicott amongst others.

We attempt to create a niche in the field of comparative constitutional law and administrative law discourse by discussing existing precedents and the constant changes that are taking place in the field. Our endeavour is to promote a wide-scale engagement not only limited to students pursuing law, but also academicians and other legal luminaries alike.

About the Speaker

Professor Neera Chandhoke has formerly served as a professor of political science at the Delhi University. While being one of the foremost scholars on a variety of subjects including political theory, comparative politics and politics of developing societies with a special focus on India, Professor Chandhoke has also collaborated with the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development for the project "Social Policy and Democratization" from 2002 to 2005.

On one hand, the books published by Professor Chandhoke, latest of which are "Violence in our Bones", "Rethinking Pluralism, Secularism and Tolerance" and "Nelson Mandela : Peace through Reconciliation", have been a guiding factor to academicians and intellectuals in the exploration of respective subjects, on the other, her regular columns covering several socio-political and legal issues in a comprehensive but accessible manner on esteemed platforms such as the Economic and Political Weekly, The Indian Express and The Wire have helped the masses understand and explore these subjects too.

About the Event

The guest lecture shall be hosted on a video conferencing platform, Cisco WebEx.

This event is scheduled to be held virtually on February 16, 2022 at 4:00 PM.

This lecture is open for all students and members of the legal fraternity to attend.

No registration fee is required to attend the same.
