Campus Law Centre of the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi emerged as winner of the National Moot Court Competition organized by Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, which was held between 9 to 11 June 2022.
The team comprised of Kritika Singh, Rupal Shah and Aditya Sarin.
Kritika Singh also won the Best Speaker award, and the team also won the Best Memorial award
The finals were adjudged by Susheel Kukreja, District and Session Judge Shimla, Senior Advocate Ankush Das and Prof. NK Gupta, Head of School of Legal Sciences, Bahara University.
Speaking to Campus Ambassador Raunaq Bali, one of the team members shared her experience, “The moot proposition revolved around constitutional law and the concept of media trial. The proposition challenged whether the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994 and the amendments of 2021 are constitutionally valid or not. It also gave us the freedom to explore and compare these rules with other laws as well such as- CPC, CrPC, and IPC, among others.
There were 4 rounds in total, and despite being first year students participating for the first time, we managed to maintain highest scores in all 4 rounds. The final round was like a cherry on cake of the entire competition. Our seniors and teachers trained us well, as a result of which we won the competition along with the awards for best memorial and our teammate won the award for the best speaker as well. It was overall a great learning experience and faculty was really nice and welcoming too.”
