Since late last year, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.
This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.
In this edition, we speak with Vishal Sharma, a fourth-year student at Amity Law School - Noida
(Edited excerpts)
I had interest in reading legal news and laws ever since I was in the 9th grade which also made me interested in studying law and because of which I ended up pursuing my undergraduate degree in law.
Apart from my interest in law, I was really interested in journalism due to which if I would not have pursued law then my alternative would have been journalism. Both fields according to me also go hand in hand and are closely knitted.
I have always had an interest in legal news and as mentioned in the previous question, I wanted to pursue journalism if law would not have worked.
When I saw an opening for Campus Ambassador at Bar & Bench it grabbed my attention since it has been one of the best in the legal news industry. I saw it as an opportunity to bridge my love for journalism and law and hence applied for the post.
I also look forward to applying for an internship with Bar & Bench once the situation is better, in order to pursue my interest.
I am inclined towards joining corporate law firms and PSUs after my graduation but to be honest through my internships I am still figuring out what really suits me the best.
Hence, I also want to make sure that due to my interests in this field I intern with legal media houses such as Bar & Bench and LiveLaw to see if it suits me or not.
If I am able to join any corporate law firm or any other law firm and understand what area of specialisation is the most exciting for me, then after working for some years I may keep the option of an LLM open.
