Since late last year, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Gaurav Jairaj is a third-year student at the National Law University, Odisha (NLUO).

(Edited excerpts)

Why did you choose to study law?

Once Steve Jobs said, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” I opted for science with mathematics in my 12th, and gradually decided to take the engineering exam.

But the sooner the time came; I did not really feel inclined towards engineering. I discovered, I was more into reasoning and words and as we say, "Law is a profession of words".

I took a year drop and chose to study law.

Why did you choose to become a Bar & Bench Campus Ambassador?

Bar & Bench campus ambassador is a great leadership opportunity. Being a student ambassador for Bar & Bench helps you to build good public relation skills and enhance your communication skills.

Apart from that, I love how it allows you to share your own experiences to become a source of knowledge for other budding law students, develops confidence and helps to enrich your own journey as a student.

What are your future plans after graduation?

I am really passionate about Judicial Services. However, when it comes to future, you can’t really plan it. And you have to learn to co-exist with uncertainty. But certainly, what you can do is work hard to achieve your goal.
