Since late last year, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students have been providing us with information on campus events and activities, and also sharing legal articles.

This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.

In this edition, we speak with Aditya Tripathy, a first year student at the Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, Delhi.

(Edited excerpts)

Why did you choose to study law? Did you have any other interest before deciding to pursue law school?

I have often heard lawyers saying that, for a lawyer, sky is the limit. There are no barriers within this profession. If one works hard, we only get success. Law is one of those professions where a person achieves success through their own creativity, efficiency and consistency.

The amount of social exposure that we get not only helps in self-development but also helps in expanding the social network. In other words, developing public relations which is one of the most important things for survival in this globalized contemporary world. With such a wide and diverse field and with so much to explore we can see a plethora of success and accomplishments coming our way.

Hence, I chose to study law.

Prior to my decision to pursue law school, I had an interest to join the Indian Army. The medals, discipline, tanks, guns, ranks and the respect often used to excite and attract me with the zeal to do something for my country. But soon I realized that I lacked a certain required competence for the same and decided to change my career to touch the sky ad serve the country and people with the usage of my mind and skills.

Why did you choose to become a Bar & Bench Campus Ambassador?

After joining the law school, I often used to find sources for legal news so that I can keep myself updated with the latest developments taking place in the legal arena. Amongst my peer group I was regularly suggested Bar & Bench as one of the most authentic source for legal news.

One day while surfing the Bar & Bench website, I found an invitation for applications for Campus Ambassadorship for Bar & Bench. While reading the prerequisites needed as an Ambassador, I found that the studentd need to post daily news through social media and I this as a great opportunity to not only get involved with a reputed organization but also keep myself updated with legal knowledge, enhance my skills and develop my knowledge.

Hence, I chose to become a Bar & Bench Campus Ambassador.

What are your plans after graduation?

After my graduation, I have decided to pursue L.L.M. and after its completion enter the practice as a litigation lawyer. Hopefully, after some years of practice I would pursue PhD. from a well reputed institution. After having a relevant knowledge, I would like to develop myself as a research-oriented lawyer simultaneously practice my profession.
