Over the last three years, we have built a network of Campus Ambassadors across more than fifty law schools all over India. These law students provide us with information on campus events and activities, as well as share legal articles.
This series of interviews is meant to turn the spotlight on these hardworking and dedicated individuals.
In this edition, we speak with Vishakha Singh, a second-year law student at the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University.
(Edited excerpts)
Why did you choose to study law?
To me, lawyers were in every case strong and powerful wizards in dark robes who pitch into the needs of the people. They are regularly portrayed as extremely confident and know-it-alls, known to set up an excellent front regardless of the conditions.
I always wanted to be part of that legal field where individuals are known by their brains and intelligence. Accordingly, this interest in legal writing and the judicial system drove me for picking law as a career.
What made you apply for the Campus Ambassador post at Bar & Bench?
Being related with the best in any profession especially law is the first choice for an aspiring law student. They say, if your start is promising, you are probably going to soar.
Bar & Bench being a premier portal in the news of the legal world opened the door for me to reach out on this platform and get legal opinions from the doyens of the legal profession. In this manner, being a law understudy, working with Bar & Bench was always my preference.
What are your plans after completing law?
As I am a sophomore, and still sorting out my area of interest inside the ocean of law, I have not pinpointed a particular objective yet, to seek after in the advent of finishing my 5 years in the legal arena.
