AZB-GLC National ADR Triathlon, 2022 by ADR Cell & GLC, Mumbai

The Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell (ADR Cell) of the Government Law College, Mumbai is hosting a National level ADR Competition named the ‘AZB-GLC National ADR Triathlon’ which will take place on the 26 and 27 of February, 2022.

About the College

Government Law College, Mumbai (“GLC”), established in 1855, is the oldest Law College in Asia, dating even prior to the University of Mumbai. It enjoys a pre-eminent reputation for excellence in the field of legal education. GLC has had the privilege of guidance and tutelage under eminent legal luminaries such as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Lokmanya Tilak, Justice M. C. Chagla, Justice Y. V. Chandrachud, Mr. Nani Palkhivala and several others who have adorned benches of the Supreme Court of India and the Bombay High Court.

About the Committee

Since its inception in 2016, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell (“ADR Cell”) has grown to be a functional, action-driven academic committee. It has always worked steadfastly towards its multifaceted goal of fostering an ADR Culture among law students. The Cell offers students numerous opportunities to learn about ADR and the various legal career paths in the field.

The Cell organizes intra-college competitions; conducts various workshops and lectures; holds webinars for students wishing to pursue their career in the field; and hosts its flagship event: the ADR Weekend. The Cell aims to instill a perspective, attitude and aptitude for resolving disputes among the students.

About the Competition

The ADR Cell is hosting the AZB-GLC National ADR Triathlon on 26th and 27th February 2022 in association with AZB & Partners as the Title Sponsor. The Competition is also supported by Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as the Technology Sponsor.

The ADR Cell has also received the support of DM Legal Associates, Adv. Aarti Sathe and Adv. The Competition envisages the progression of a dispute in a real-life scenario. Each team shall have three members, and each member shall be compulsorily participating in at least one of the rounds.

● The first round shall be a Client Counselling Round, where a pair of Counsels from each team will attempt to advise an in-house client;

● The second round would consist of a Negotiation Segment;

● The third and last round would consist of Mediation.
