Senior Advocate Vijay Narayan is the new Advocate General for Tamil Nadu

Following the resignation of R Muthukumaraswamy, Senior Advocate Vijay Narayan has been appointed as the new Advocate General for Tamil Nadu.

Narayan confirmed this news to Bar & Bench.

After graduating from Loyola College, he did his LL.B. from Law College, Madras in 1982. Soon after, Narayan joined the chambers of Senior Advocate P Chidambaram and worked with the former Finance Minister till he became a Member of Parliament.

Narayan was designated Senior Advocate in 2004 and is currently the President of the Madras Bar Association.

The new AG comes from a family of eminent lawyers and jurists. He is the nephew of Attorney General for India KK Venugopal. His paternal grandfather was legendary lawyer MK Nambiar and his maternal grandfather was Sardar KM Panikkar, member of the Constituent Assembly.
