YSR Congress Party leader and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam chairperson YV Subba Reddy has moved the Supreme Court over the recent controversy where animal fat was found in the Laddu prasadam served at the revered Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh [Yerram Venkata Subba Reddy vs State of Andhra Pradesh and ors].

As per reports, a forensic lab report revealed that animal fat was found in the ghee used to prepare laddus at the Hindu shrine in Andhra Pradesh, where Lord Venkateswara is worshipped.

Reddy, a Rajya Sabha parliamentarian, has sought a court-monitored probe or the appointment of a retired Supreme Court judge to conduct an independent enquiry into the allegations.

Pertinently, Reddy has also sought directions to the Central and Andhra Pradesh governments, TTD and Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu not to 'publicize or propagate the said issue as it is effecting sentiments of devotees of Lord Venkateswara at large till the enquiry is completed.'

Earlier today, Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy also moved top court over the controversy.

Dr. Swamy has sought formation of a court-monitored committee to probe the allegations.

Reddy's petition has been filed through advocate Baani Khanna and drawn by Advocate Palak Bishnoi.
