NIRF Rankings 2019: NLSIU tops again, best three law schools remain unchanged

National Law School of India University (NLSIU Bangalore) has once again topped the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF Rankings) of the best law schools in the country.

As was the case in last year’s NIRF rankings, NLU Delhi, NALSAR Hyderabad and the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law at IIT Kharagpur have featured in the top four.

NUJS Kolkata has broken into the top five this year, having been placed seventh last year. NLU Jodhpur drops to sixth place in this year’s rankings, followed by Symbiosis Law School, Pune. The Faculty of Law at Jamia Milia Islamia is at eighth.

Two National Law Universities – GNLU Gandhinagar and RGNUL Patiala – complete the top ten.

Among the new entrants in this year’s NIRF Rankings are NLIU Bhopal at eleventh, School of Law at KIIT University at twelfth, and Indian Law Institute at thirteenth.

RMLNLU Lucknow, which ranked eighth last year, has dropped to fourteenth. BR Ambedkar College of Law, Visakhapatnam completes the top fifteen, down from tenth last year.

A total of eighty law schools and law departments at universities participated in the NIRF survey conducted by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.

The parameters for the rankings included Teaching, Learning and Resources; Research and Professional Practice; Graduation Outcomes; Outreach and Inclusivity; and Perception.
