A Mumbai court on Thursday remanded Chhattisgarh lawyer Faizan Khan to four-day police custody over his alleged involvement in a death threat call to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.
Mumbai police had on November 12 arrested Faizan Khan from Raipur. After obtaining his transit remand from a Chhattisgarh court, he was brought to Mumbai.
According to Hindustan Times, the Mumbai police on Thursday produced the accused before a court in Bandra seeking a seven-day custody for further investigation in the case.
Faizan's lawyers argued that his phone had been stolen before the alleged threat call was made from it.
The Mumbai police started their probe into the matter after the Bandra Police Station received a phone call from Faizan Khan's phone demanding a ransom of ₹50 lakh from the actor.
The caller also threatened that he would kill Shah Rukh Khan.
Faizan was later arrested by the police after he failed to appear for questioning.
