Justice MS Ramachandra Rao appointed acting Chief Justice of Telangana High Court

The appointment came after Chief Justice Hima Kohli relinquished charge upon her elevation to the Supreme Court.

Justice MS Ramachandra Rao has been appointed acting Chief Justice of Telangana High Court after Chief Justice Hima Kohli relinquished charge subsequent to her elevation to the Supreme Court.

A notification on Justice Rao's appointment was issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Friday.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao, senior-most Judge of Telangana High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from the date Kumari Justice Hima Kohli relinquishes the charge as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court consequent upon her appointment as Judge of the Supreme Court of India," the notification said.

Justice Rao did completed his LLB course from University College of Law, Osmania University in 1989 and LLM from Cambridge University in 1991.

He practiced before the Andhra Pradesh High Court and was appointed judge of AP High Court in 2012.

After the creation of Telangana State, he became a judge of the Telangana High Court.
