Justice Vineet Kothari appointed Gujarat High Court Acting Chief Justice till Sept 2, Justice RM Chhaya to take over after

The development comes in the wake of Chief Justice Vikram Nath's recent elevation to the Supreme Court of India.

The Central government has notified the appointment of Justice Vineet Kothari as Acting Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court until his retirement on September 2, 2021.

The development comes in the wake of Chief Justice Vikram Nath's recent elevation to the Supreme Court of India.

Justice Vikram Nath today bid farewell to the Gujarat High Court and is slated to assume office as a Supreme Court judge next week.

In view of the same, the President has now appointed the senior most judge of the Gujarat High Court, Justice Vineet Kothari, to perform the duties of the office of Chief Justice with effect from the date on which Chief Justice Nath relinquishes office.

Given that Justice Kothari will reach superannuation on September 2, the President has further appointed the next senior most High Court Judge, Justice RS Chhaya as Acting Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court from September 2, 2021.
