Former Supreme Court judge Justice M Jagannadha Rao passes away

He is the father of Justice MS Ramachandra Rao, who is currently serving as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

Former Supreme Court judge Justice Mamidana Jagannadha Rao passed away on Monday, aged 88.

He is the father of Justice MS Ramachandra Rao, who is currently serving as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

Justice Jagannadha's father was also a judge, having served as at the Andhra Pradesh High Court for a brief period of four months before he passed away.

Justice Jagannadha was born on December 2, 1935. He got enrolled as an advocate with the Bar Council of Hyderabad on July 25, 1960.

He was made an Additional Judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court on September 29, 1982.

He became a permanent Judge two months later and was later appointed as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on August 8 in 1991.

He was then transferred to Delhi High Court in April 12, 1994 and served as it Chief Justice till 1997.

On March 21, 1997, he was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court and retired on December 1, 2000.

Justice Jagnnadha's paternal uncle, Justice M Krishna Rao, has also served as a former judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court.
