[BREAKING] Supreme Court Collegium recommends Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari as Chief Justice of Madras High Court

Justice Bhandari, who is currently serving as Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, was transferred from the Allahabad High Court in November last year.

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended that Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari be appointed as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.

A resolution to this effect was passed pursuant to Collegium deliberations held on December 14, 2021 and January 29 this year.

Justice Bhandari, who is currently serving as Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, was transferred from the Allahabad High Court in November last year.

Following the transfer of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee to the Meghalaya High Court, Justice M Duraiswamy served as Acting Chief Justice before Justice Bhandari took over.

Justice Bhandari became a judge in 2007 when was appointed as a judge of the Rajasthan High Court on July 5 that year. He was then transferred to the Allahabad High Court and took oath as a judge on March 15, 2019.

He served as Acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court from June 26 to October 10, after the retirement of Chief Justice Sanjay Yadav.
