Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan, and the prime accused in the cruise ship drug case, will be released from Arthur Road jail on October 30, Saturday.

While all the formalities for Khan's release were completed on Friday, the bail papers procured from the Sessions Court could not be submitted to the jail authorities before the deadline of 5.30 pm. At around 6:30 pm, one of the lawyers appearing for Khan had left the court with bail papers.

They are likely to be submitted to the jail authorities later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Earlier today, the Bombay High Court had released the bail order setting out 13 conditions to be fulfilled by Khan and co-accused Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha.

It included personal bond of ₹1 lakh and one surety of the like amount. Subsequently, Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla had stood as surety for Khan. The Sessions Court had accepted the surety and cleared the papers.

On Thursday, the High Court granted bail to Aryan Khan, who was in custody for 25 days for his alleged involvement in the cruise ship drugs case.

Khan was taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on October 2, 2021 after a cruise ship en route to Goa from Mumbai was raided. He was placed under arrest on October 3 and charged with offences under Section 8(c), 20(b), 27, 28, 29 and 35 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

He was remanded to NCB custody till October 4, which was extended till October 7. Subsequently, he was remanded to judicial custody, after which he immediately moved for bail.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate RM Nerlikar had rejected the bail application, holding that it was not maintainable as only the special court of sessions was entitled to hear the bail plea.

Subsequently, Khan moved the special court seeking bail, which came to be rejected on October 20. This prompted the appeal before the High Court.
