The Central government on Thursday informed the Delhi High Court that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure security and safety of former BJP MP Subramanian Swamy, a Z-category protectee.

Justice Yashwant Varma noted the submission to that effect by Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Sanjay Jain.

The Court was also told by Swamy's counsel that vacant possession of the government accommodation will be handed over by Saturday.

Hence, the Court disposed of the plea which Swamy had filed contending that he was not being provided security at his private residence.

Swamy who is entitled to Z category security had been allotted government bungalow in Delhi by the Central government for 5 years in January 2016.

After his tenure came to an end in April 2022, he was asked to vacate the bungalow.

Swamy the moved the High Court seeking re-allotment of the bungalow but the plea was rejected by the High Court on September 14 after noting that the allotment was made for five years and that it was not shown any material which mandates or requires allotment of government accommodation to Z category protectees.

Swamy the approached the High Court by way of the present plea alleging that when the High Court directed him to hand over possession of his bungalow, a categorical assurance was given by the Centre that he will be provided security at his private residence but no one even visited his private residence to take stock of infrastructure needed to provide security.
