Tamil Nadu's Hosur witnessed a brutal incident on Wednesday when a lawyer was attacked outside the premises of the city's court complex.

According to reports, a lawyer named Kannan was assaulted with a sickle by one Anand, who worked as a court clerk. After onlookers intervened, Anand was arrested.

Kannan, who sustained injuries to his head, was rushed to the hospital, where he is reportedly in a critical condition.

Reports suggest that Anand was allegedly enraged by a suspected affair between Kannan and Anand's wife.

On Thursday, lawyers staged a protest outside the Madras High Court demanding justice for Kannan.

The matter was also mentioned before the High Court, which urged the police and members of the Bar to conduct a meeting to address the safety of lawyers in the State.
