Bar & Bench

Kausik Chanda has been appointed an additional judge of the Calcutta High Court for a two year term.  A Central Government notification to this effect was issued today.

The Government cleared his name for elevation to the High Court Bench pursuant to a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation made in July this year.

At the time, his name was proposed for appointment as a High Court judge along with the names of five others passed vide a separate resolution the same day. However, the Government appears to have not decided on whether to clear the additional five names yet.
