The Court was hearing the petition filed by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi’s brother, Gopal Joshi, and nephew, Ajay Joshi seeking quashing of the first information report (FIR) registered against them.

The two were arrested by the police last week and remanded to police custody by a Bengaluru court for allegedly cheating former Karnataka MLA Devanand Chavan’s family.

Sunitha Chavan, wife of former JD(S) MLA Devanand Chavan, had filed a complaint with the Basaveshwara Nagar police in Bengaluru alleging that Gopal Joshi had cheated her of ₹2.5 crore by promising her husband a BJP ticket for the Bijapur Lok Sabha constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
