The Central Government has notified the transfer of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait back to his parent High Court of Delhi, from the Hyderabad High Court.
After serving as a judge at the Delhi High Court, Justice Kumar Kait had been transferred to the Hyderabad High Court in 2016. He had earlier made a request for his return to the Delhi High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium acceded to this request by a resolution dated September 7.
The Law Ministry has also approved the same, as intimated in a notification dated October 6, which directs that Justice Kumar Kait assume charge of his office at the Delhi High Court by October 20. It states,
“In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of article 222 of the Constitution of India, the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Judge of the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as a Judge of the Delhi High Court and to direct him to assume charge of his office in the Delhi High Court on or before 20th October, 2018.”
Justice Kumar Sait obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Campus Law Centre, Delhi. He served as a standing counsel for the Central Government from 2004 onwards, till his elevation to the Bench in 2008 as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court. He was a appointed as a permanent judge of the Delhi High Court in 2013, prior to his 2016 transfer to the Hyderabad High Court.
