Justice PR Ramachandra Menon appointed Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court

The Central Government has notified the appointment of Justice Parappillil Ramakrishnan Nair Ramachandra Menon as the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.

Justice PR Ramachandra Menon is presently serving as a Judge of the Kerala High Court.

In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Parappillil Ramakrishnan Nair Ramachandra Menon Judge of the Kerala High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office.”, the Notification dated April 30 reads.

The Supreme Court Collegium had endorsed the appointment of Kerala High Court judge, Justice PR Ramachandra Menon as the next Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court in its Resolution dated April 8.

While making the recommendation the Collegium also noted that if Justice Ramachandra’s proposed appointment is cleared by the Government, there will be two Chief Justices from Kerala High Court.

Justice Ramachandra Menon obtained his law degree from the Government Law College, Ernakulam. Following his enrolment in 1983, his areas of practice included labour, insurance and Constitutional laws.

He was appointed an additional judge of the Kerala High Court in January 2009. His post was made permanent in December the following year.
