Justice Manmohan takes oath as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court

Justice Manmohan today took oath as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.

The oath was administered by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena at a ceremony that was also attended by newly appointed Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi Singh.

An alumnus of Campus Law Centre, Justice Manmohan enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in 1987 and was designated as a Senior Advocate in 2003. He was elevated as an Additional Judge of the Delhi High Court in 2008 and became a Permanent Judge in 2009.

On November 9, 2023, he was appointed Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.

On July 11, 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium, comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justices Sanjiv Khanna and BR Gavai, recommended Justice Manmohan's elevation as Chief Justice.

The Centre subsequently notified his appointment, along with other Chief Justices for various High Courts, on September 21, 2024.

Chief Justice Manmohan is set to retire on December 16, 2024.
