Gujarat High Court designates 12 lawyers as Senior Advocates

The Gujarat High Court has designated 12 lawyers as Senior Advocates with effect from August 13, 2019.

  The names of the newly designated Senior Advocates are as follows:

  • Devang Sudhir Nanavati 
  • Mitesh Ramanbhai Amin
  • Satyajeet Atul Desai
  • Jal Soli Unwalla
  • Asim Jayantbhai Pandya
  • Hasmukh Mohanlal Parikh
  • Bharatkumar Shanubhai Patel
  • Iqbal Hasanali Syed
  • Maulin Ramesh Raval
  • Gautam Mansukh Joshi
  • Mahendrakumar Babubhai Gandhi
  • Tushar Pramodchandra Hemani

The decision with respect to the conferment of the Senior Advocate designation was taken by the Acting Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court and the other Judges of the High Court in a Full Court meeting held on August 13, 2019, in exercise of its power conferred under Section 16(2) of the Advocates’Act, 1961 read with Rule 19(1) of the High Court of Gujarat – Designation of Senior Advocates Rules, 2018.

In March this year, the Supreme Court had designated 37 lawyers as Senior Advocates. The Himachal Pradesh High Court designated 17 lawyers as Senior Advocates the same month.

The Allahabad High Court has also conferred the Senior gown on 75 advocates earlier this year.

The Delhi High Court also initiated the process of designation and called for applications seeking conferment of the gown.
