Neerav Merchant has joined AQUILAW as a Partner and the Head of the Mumbai office to lead the firm’s Disputes Practice (domestic and cross-border) and spearhead the anti-corruption, investigation, white-collar crime, employment, and commercial practices.
Merchant graduated from KC Law College in 1996. He qualified as a Solicitor with the Bombay Incorporated Law Society in December 1999.
Merchant has more than 27 years of experience in handling and strategizing dispute resolution and arbitration matters (including advising on enforcement of foreign judgments and awards), has advised on internal investigations and anti-corruption matters, as also handled government affairs, IT/Outsourcing & Licensing, and real property matters.
He regularly advises foreign (and domestic) clients as regards their India disputes strategies, providing clients a practical, pragmatic, and solutions driven advice, and often acting as co-counsel, or as an expert on Indian law issues at international (disputes or arbitral) forums.
Prior to AQUILAW, Merchant was a Partner with Majmudar & Partners for over 17 years. His total work experience spans various sectors, namely healthcare and pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and industrials, automobile, oil & gas, telecom, insurance, banking, FMCG, information technology (IT), and real property.
