CLAT 2022 to be held on May 8, 2022; CLAT 2023 on December 18, 2022

The 2022 edition of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) will be held on May 8, the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has decided.

The Consortium also announced the date for CLAT 2023, which will interestingly be held on December 18, 2022 to be specific.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Consortium held on Sunday at NALSAR University, Hyderabad under the chairmanship of Prof (Dr) Faizan Mustafa.

The Consortium further decided to reduce the counselling fees from ₹50,000 to ₹30,000 for general category candidates and to ₹20,000 for reserved category candidates.

At today's meeting, Prof (Dr) Poonam Saxena, Vice-Chancellor of National Law University, Jodhpur was elected as the next chairperson of the Consortium of NLUs.

CLAT 2021 had gotten postponed multiples times due to COVID-19. It was initially slated to be held on May 9. It was then re-scheduled to be conducted on June 13, in light of an announcement that CBSE board exams would commence from May 4.

It once again got indefinitely postponed after the second wave of COVID-19 struck before it was eventually held on July 23.
