Andhra Pradesh Assembly passes resolution for High Court bench at Kurnool

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly on November 21 passed a resolution to establish a High Court bench at Kurnool. 

Minister of Law and Justice N Md Farooq presented the resolution in the House, which was unanimously passed under the leadership of Speaker C Ayyannapatrudu, Indian Express reported.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced during the assembly meeting that the resolution, already approved by the State Cabinet, would be forwarded to the Central government.

Following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh shared a common High Court in Hyderabad until December 2018.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court of divided AP commenced operations from Amaravati on January 1, 2019.

As per the Express report, Naidu stated that his government is dedicated to the overall development of the state and revealed plans for increased growth in Visakhapatnam (North Andhra), as well as Kurnool and Tirupati in the Rayalaseema region.
